Mission

The mission of Qedeli Community is to create a dignified family type environment for its residents, to develop independent living skills by participating in occupational therapy workshops and to introcude them to vocations; to promote their integration into society through social and cultural activities and to contribute to the reduction of existing stigma.

History

Qedeli is a dynamic life-sharing community for adults with disabilities in Georgia since 1999. It is a therapeutic residence that nurtures, supports, and celebrates the uniqueness of every individual.

In 2006, the deinstitutionalization program started in Georgia, by that time there was 1 residential house in Qedeli where 4 people lived. Within the framework of the program, the Ministry of Health transferred 6 beneficiaries from the "Disabled Children's Home" of Kaspi and Senaki to Qedeli.

In 2011, the social enterprise "Art Cafe Qedeli" was opened in Sighnaghi, which was the first social cafe where disabled people were employed.

In 2012, a CD of Choir Qedeli was recorded and released.

AT the moment, there are 3 residential houses in Qedeli where 28 adults with disabilities live. There are occupational therapy workshops (bakery, carpentry, weaving workshop, plant studio, farm, garden) where Qedeli beneficiaries are employed.
